Fire Department Lookup
Search any of 38,514 U.S. fire departments from the federal HIFLD database. Look up by department name, city, or county to see personnel, station counts, and EMS coverage.
How This Lookup Works
Every record served by this tool comes from the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD) Open Data program operated by DHS / CISA, which aggregates fire-station locations and FDID identifiers reported voluntarily by state and local agencies. Department-level rollups apply the FDID + state composite key, then attach personnel and equipment counts using the highest reported station value to avoid undercounting departments that operate multiple stations. We do not interpolate or fabricate values; if a field is empty in HIFLD, it is shown as blank or omitted.
Smaller all-volunteer departments and rural districts are sometimes underrepresented in HIFLD because reporting is non-mandatory. Treat absence from this lookup as a signal to verify with the local jurisdiction, not as evidence that a department does not exist. State-level fire incident counts and loss totals come from U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) National Fire Statistics published reports.
