A dated record of real changes to the fire department data behind PlainFireData. This list only carries changes we can point to in our own build history. See the editorial policy & corrections process for how a specific figure gets corrected.

  1. Current data build

    The current database was built from the HIFLD Fire Stations dataset and USFA/OpenFEMA-derived records, joined with U.S. Census Vintage 2024 state population estimates. As part of this build, impossible personnel-per-station outliers were identified and nulled rather than estimated, and personnel-count rankings were indexed for faster lookups.
